At present, the method usually used in our plant to separate and purify β-methylnaphthalene and α-methylnaphthalene is: first carry out high-efficiency rectification, and then carry out purification such as freezing, crystallization and suction filtration. This method has high requirements on the efficiency of the rectification tower, large equipment investment, and low product yield. However, this process still has vitality. Because the price of methyl naphthalene is very low, only 3000 yuan/t, and the price of β-methyl naphthalene is as high as 22000 yuan/t or more. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a new process that can increase the yield of β-methylnaphthalene in order to achieve greater economic benefits.
