The sulfuric acid method is a traditional fluorene-9-bisphenol production method. This method is suitable for small-scale, single-pot batch production. The biggest feature is that the process is simple, the operation is convenient, and no phenol is recovered. Product recycling uses methanol and water to repeatedly wash concentrated sulfuric acid and excess phenol. Therefore, a large amount of phenol-containing wastewater and waste organic acids containing organic matter will be generated, causing serious harm to the environment and difficult to handle. And increased consumption of phenol and sulfuric acid. The yield of fluorene-9-bisphenol synthesized by sulfuric acid method is the highest but the product purity is low. Therefore, the process is now basically obsolete.
