Quinoline (CAS NO 91-22-5)
Introduction:
The quinoline is highly aromatic, and the benzene ring moiety is susceptible to electrophilic substitution at 5,8, for example, in the case of nitration or sulfonation, 5- and 8-nitro and sulfoquinolines are produced. The pyridine ring is partially stable, and upon oxidation, the benzene ring is destroyed and the pyridine ring is unchanged. The infrared spectrum of quinoline has an absorption peak similar to 1-methylnaphthalene at 3.27 μm. Industrially, the acidic sulfate of quinoline is dissolved in ethanol.
Application:
Quinoline can produce drugs and highly effective pesticides,and after oxidation, it can be used as pyridine carboxylic acid.Its derivatives can be used for the manufacture of color film and dye. And it can be used for synthetic drugs, dyes, pesticides and intermediates gas chromatography stationary phase.
