Alkali fusion is the earliest method used to extract indole. Its basic principle is based on the fact that indole is weakly acidic. The resulting alkali fusion can be easily separated from the wash oil fraction by filtration, and then hydrolyzed to obtain indole. This method has the disadvantages of long indole extraction rate, environmental pollution and high cost.
