2,3-Pyridinedicarboxylic Acid has important uses in the synthesis of color-developing materials. 2,3-Pyridinedicarboxylic Acid is first reacted with acetic anhydride at a certain temperature to convert to quinolinic anhydride, and then reacted with indole to form ketones; these ketones can be further used to synthesize pyridone.
