Calcium chloride is a salt composed of chlorine and calcium. The appearance of calcium chloride is white or off-white powder, granule, fragment, sphere, etc. Calcium chloride also has various uses, it can be used as desiccant, snow melting agent, dust remover, freezing agent, etc. So why can calcium chloride be used as snow melting agent to melt snow and ice?
1. Calcium chloride dissolves in water and exerts heat, so it helps to melt snow and ice.
2. The freezing point of calcium chloride dissolved in water is relatively low, the freezing point of sodium chloride dissolved in water is -10℃, and the freezing point of calcium chloride dissolved in water is about -20℃. Therefore, it is difficult to form ice after the use of calcium salt snowmelt, which is conducive to snow removal.
3. Calcium chloride snow melt dissolved in water, the concentration of examples in water increases, reducing the liquid phase vapor pressure of water, the solid vapor pressure of ice remains unchanged, so in order to achieve the vapor pressure between the two, the ice will melt. This is why calcium chloride can also be used as a snow melting agent to melt ice.
Food grade calcium chloride is usually used as a desiccant, but isn't it a shame to lose it after use? Here is a way to reuse anhydrous calcium chloride: due to the high temperature method of anhydrous calcium chloride, anhydrous calcium chloride desiccant can be used again after drying at 200℃ high temperature. In fact, this is only based on its production principle.
